Archipelago, 1995
A configuration of fifteen elements,
radiating in the water-filled patio enclosed by
the facades of the School for Economy and
Management in Utrecht (Architects: Mecanoo, Delft).
Wooden structure, covered with polyester and
a thick layer of resin, sand, stones and pigments.
The elements together with their reflections,
fragment the mirror images of the architectural
lines mirrored in the water.
Maximum height: three meters
This interplay between objects and their reflections
was inspired by the reflections of the St Isaacs Cathedral
in St Petersburg, fragmented continually by ice floes in the river Neva.
